Hey, We are MyGreenPlanet!
We are two founders who believe that meaningful climate action should be accessible to everyone. Since 2022, we've been working passionately on MyGreenPlanet, driven by a shared vision that started between Hannover and Munich and grew into a joint mission. Coming from different places but united by the same values, we experienced firsthand how overwhelming sustainability can feel in everyday life. We asked ourselves a simple question: What if taking climate action was not complicated, but empowering, transparent and even motivating? That question became the foundation of our startup.
With MyGreenPlanet, we make it radically easy for people to understand their personal carbon footprint, take responsibility for it, and actively contribute to real climate solutions. Our app guides users step by step: from calculating emissions, to supporting high-impact climate projects across land, ocean and air, all the way to celebrating and sharing their positive impact. We believe that climate action should not feel like a sacrifice — it should feel like progress. By combining clarity, choice and community, we turn sustainability into something personal, effective and shareable. Because real change doesn't happen alone. In our app, we break down your annual CO₂ emissions into four clear, relatable life areas that everyone can influence: Living, Travel, Food, and Shopping. The total footprint is the sum of these areas - and the best part: We make it engaging! Track your progress, get personalized insights, and feel empowered to reduce emissions. If you have not filled out all sections yet, we use average values for a quick overview to get you started.
Yes. MyGreenPlanet is designed to be flexible and to adapt to your life. You can change your level, adjust your supported projects, or pause your offsetting plan whenever your situation changes. We believe climate action should empower you, not lock you in. That's why you stay in control and can update your choices over time.
MyGreenPlanet uniquely combines carbon compensation with social sharing. You don't just offset your footprint — you can directly share your supported projects and real climate actions on social media, turning personal impact into collective motivation. Climate action becomes visible, social, and contagious.
There is no fixed minimum or maximum amount you have to offset. MyGreenPlanet is designed to be flexible and to fit different lifestyles and budgets. You decide how far you want to go: you can offset part of your footprint or aim for full climate action by choosing different compensation levels (such as Half, Single, Double, or Triple). You can also adjust your choices over time as your situation or priorities change. This way, climate action remains accessible, personal, and pressure-free — every contribution counts.
The monthly offset amount is based on your personal carbon footprint, which we calculate using official data from the German Environment Agency. Our carbon calculator analyses your information in the areas of housing, travel, consumption and nutrition and uses it to determine your annual footprint in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents. Our highly efficient partner projects achieve an average offset of 1 tonne of CO₂ for around €27. We calculate your offsetting price on this basis by multiplying it by your personal footprint. This gives you your individual monthly offset amount.
Zero tolerance for greenwashing — 100% of your offset payment goes to the project MyGreenPlanet stands for radical transparency. We have zero tolerance for greenwashing and do not profit from your offset subscriptions. Important: 👉 100% of your compensation payment goes directly to the selected project — no deductions, no hidden fees. We do not pay ourselves dividends and do not generate returns from your compensation payments. Every penny that flows through MyGreenPlanet is verifiably used for climate protection.
MyGreenPlanet receives a marketing and service fee from its project partners. This partner fee is our only revenue model and is used as follows: We invest two-thirds in marketing to attract more people to climate protection and increase the reach of the projects. One third goes towards our service with further developing the platform, particularly features for CO₂ reduction, transparency and impact verification. This ensures that MyGreenPlanet can grow sustainably — without ever operating at the expense of the environment or its users.
